VMworld is an annual conference for virtualization and cloud computing technologies sponsored by VMware—a virtualization and cloud computing infrastructure software provider based in Palo Alto, California. The event offers attendees cutting-edge hands-on labs, informative, high-impact breakout sessions, plus opportunities to network with a broad set of technology, and cloud partners who are shaping the future of IT.
Celebrating the 10th annual VMworld in the United States, we had designed an all-encompassing event experience from the conference theme “Defy Convention”—representing VMware’s conviction that success often comes from defying convention and challenging the status quo—to event concept, branding, key visuals, secondary messaging, touch-points, and a toolkit for partners and vendors. The overall event brand experience was applied globally for VMworld US and EMEA.
VMworld grown from just over 1,600 attendees in 2004 to over 31,000 in 2013, requiring all three buildings of the cavernous Moscone Center in downtown San Francisco, and spilling over into neighboring hotel convention space. The event’s on-point branding and experience resonated with VMware’s audience and helped turn attendees into brand advocates.
